The Gatsby Salon...Jerseylicious

Today Allyson and I went and saw the Gastby Salon, where the reality TV show Jerseylicious is filmed! We met a couple of the ladies that are always on the show, we were so excited! It was such a fun day!

I got my eye brows done for the first time! It didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would.

Doria, the Gastby's make-up artist!

Delaware River Float!

Yesterday we floated down the Delaware River!! It was honestly one of the funnest things that I have done here. It was about an hour drive to French Town NJ. The drive was amazing! We passed through the cutest towns I have ever seen. There was so much farm land and little markets, the homes were huge with tons of land! It was SO nice to see so much open land.

This is the farm we stopped at on the way there, I saw a sign for fresh peaches and turned in so fast! They had these peaches called donut peaches, that were amazing! I got tomatoes, corn and cucumbers! I was so excited!
The river float was so fun! We got our tubes and hopped on a bus that took us to the river, then we just got in the water and started cruisin. Okay when I say cruisin I mean crawling...it was a very slow current ha it was really relaxing though! So the funniest part of the whole day is when the exit was coming up and we had no idea, until a guy on a boat told us we better start swimming fast so we will make it in time for the exit (heaven forbid he offers us a ride!) We must have not realized how fast the current was because we tried to start swimming towards the side of the river but we were just being taken down stream, we both were laughing so hard and trying to swim at the same time, it was not working. We were just the girls who struggle! Finally we made it to the side of the river, we were both so out of breath! It was the biggest work out I have had all summer...sad I know, but so true. I realized that I lost my shirt during the struggle so I had to buy a Delaware River Float shirt, at least the shirt will remind me of this experience. We caught the bus back to our car and headed back to the farm to buy more produce! It was such a fun day! I wouldn't have changed a thing about it!

This was the half way point stop where we had a BBQ. The tables were just in the water and they were cooking on a boat! It was so fun!

Sunday!

Sundays are always a different experience here, church is not like it is in Utah. This particular Sunday, church went a half hour over. In sacrament, I could not understand what the speakers were saying because they had such heavy accents. In Sunday School, the teacher was super rude and had to be corrected because he was teaching false doctrine. In the third hour the bishop talked to the priesthood and relief society about how you shouldn't clap after baptisms. Gotta love church in Jersey! Sunday night Allyson and I made pancakes for dinner and sat outside on our blanket and ate them, we stayed forever! It started pouring rain and we just sat there. It was such a fun night! Then we waited till midnight and went and got a coke from the sev! ha Ya gotta do what ya gotta do right? ha

"Daily Goals"

So this summer is coming to an end here pretty soon, I am so excited to get back to Utah but so sad to leave this experience. This has been the best summer I could have ever asked for! Allyson and I have really taken it easy here in Jersey, I am going to miss the long days at to pool and watching movies every night. We have what we call our "Daily Goals" for example sometimes our goal for the day is to wake up before noon and go swim suit shopping or go pick up a few groceries...some days our goals are harder than others but as you can see we get them done!

Goal for the day, Groceries at Target. Check! Goal for the day, paint our nails and watch the Bachelorette! Check... Life is rough!

Saying Goodbye...

Nic and Bree moved to Boston, then in August they move to California for Bree's PA program. We are missing them. It has been so fun to get to know Bree, I have learned so much from her! We have had the best summer EVER and we owe it all to Bree and Nic! Love you guys!!

Doug and Lor come to visit...

This weekend was so fun! I got to see my parents! I have missed them so much, the time went by too fast. The first night we were here Allyson and I took them to our favorite Mexican Restaurant, Doug loved it so much we went there 3 times in 3 days! The next day we went into NYC. We walked around Central Park, Times Square and saw Wicked. Wicked was SO good!! The next day we went to a Mets vs Phillys game! Instead of taking the train into the city for the game, Doug figured it would be best to drive, let me just say, it was a very scary experience. Driving right through the city was so crowded and taxi drivers just do what they want. Doug did a good job though, I am proud to say we all made it home safely. The day after we took Doug to see Jersey Shore! We had so much fun at the beach. Then the next day they had to go home, I hated to say goodbye! I am so lucky to have such amazing parents!! I am so happy they could come visit, it was they best weekend ever!

Hill Cumorah Pagent

On Saturday we packed up and loaded in the car and drove the 5 hours to Palmyra New York to see the Hill Cumorah pageant. I loved it!! It was so well done and easy to follow. After the pageant we went to our motel, SO ghetto! but what is a road trip without a ghetto hotel? There were two beds and 5 people so, Bree, Nic and Francie shared a bed...So awkward! It was so funny. The next morning we headed to the Sacred Grove, it was such a good experience. Nic read The First Vision while we were there, after that we sat in the grove and had a really good discussion about Joseph Smith, it was such a testimony building experience! I am so grateful we had this opportunity. When we walked into the Sacred Grove we saw one of our leaders from Heritage Tours and one of my High School Seminary teachers, we were there the same time as the Heritage Tours July group, so we were able to talk to people we knew from high school some of the other leaders. It was so good to see faces we knew!
